CLEARFIELD – Taffy Salon and Spa receives the Silver Shovel Award for the month of February. A spin off from the previous Golden Broom Award, the Silver Shovel Award is a peer-to-peer program initiated by the Clearfield Revitalization Corporation, to promote storefront and sidewalk cleanliness in the winter months.
Steve Albert, a member of the CRC Design Committee, explains how it is difficult for businesses to keep up with the snow fall, ice and frigid temperatures and choosing a winner was no easy task. “Taffy’s went over and above just the maintenance of keeping their sidewalks shoveled and salted. They cleared a define entrance from the street to the sidewalk, making it easy and welcoming for customers to enter their salon and dance studio without stepping in deep snow or slush. This little extra step contributes to an overall great customer experience.”
Dana Timko, owner of Taffy Salon and Spa and The Dance Co, remarked that it is essential to have a pathway from the street to the sidewalk since there are many children involved in the classes at The Dance Co. Timko will be on the lookout to pass the Silver Shovel onto the next winner in March.
CRC Main Street Manager Kellie Truman commented on how well the entire downtown has been working together to keep their areas clean and safe for pedestrians and customers. “We all understand how dirty snow and ice become and aren’t expecting to see sparkling storefronts. However, we feel it is important to keep up with the snow, ice and clearing paths for customers to park and enter your business. Ultimately, the entire main street district has done a wonderful job with their storefronts, especially in the heart of winter. A special thanks to Taffy’s, and we are looking forward to seeing who the next winner will be in March.”
