HERSHEY — The Clearfield Bison (11-2) wrestling team will face Delaware Valley (14-1) Thursday night at 8:00 p.m. at the Giant Center in Hershey in the second round of the PIAA State Team Wrestling Championships.
The District 9 team champion Bisons look for their first dual meet win at the Giant Center. They did defeat Hemfield Area in a first round match up at Clarion in 2009, but have not advanced past the first round at Hershey.
According to the PA Power Rankings of February 9, the District 2 champions from Delaware Valley are ranked 30th in the state, while the Bisons are ranked #24.
It could all come down to the “flip” as each team has some power houses in its line up.
Clearfield is led by #4 ranked Christian Stone (23-2) at 112, #8 ranked Shane Peters (23-2) at 103, #14 ranked Derek Danver (24-5) at 171, #18 ranked Cliff Hill (18-3) at 215, #26 ranked Nolan Barger (20-7), and unranked Dylan Graham (19-8) at 119.
Delaware Valley is led by #1 ranked CJ Palmer (33-1) at 119, #26 ranked Adam Monzoni (23-5) at 189, #29 ranked Jalen Palmer (30-12) at 125, unranked Marc Wagner (25-5) at 171, and unranked Martin Strenk (22-7) at 160.
The winner of the match will advance to face either District 7 Champion Canon McMillan (20-2) or perennial district 11 power Nazareth (13-4).
