Joan Carol Brown, 69 of Curwensville, PA, passed away on Feb. 2, 2011 at her residence.
Born on Feb. 3, 1941 in Clearfield, she was the daughter of John W. and Marie E. (Young) Brady.
Mrs. Brown had been employed as a Certified Nurse’s Aide with Christ the King Manor in DuBois for several years. Prior to that she was employed with the former McGregor Sportswear Company as a seamstress for ten years.
She had attended the West Side United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Brown is survived by her husband, Charles C. Brown, whom she married on April 26, 1980; a daughter, Carol L. Gibson of Curwensville; five grandchildren: Kenneth C. Smay, Robert Clair Smay, Jr. and his wife Trish, Lori Ann McKendrick and her husband Brad, Sherry Lee Gibson-Olson and her husband Eric, Joseph Dale Johnson and his wife Kristy; eleven great-grandchildren; four brothers and two sisters: John R. Brady of Manassas, VA, Charles W. “Bud” Brady of Clearfield, Shirley Howell of Harrisburg, Betty Jane Cook and her husband Dean, Donald L. Brady and his wife Gloria of Clearfield, Edward E. Brady and his wife Doreen of Clearfield. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Brown is preceded in death by her parents and a son, Clair “Ross” Johnson in 1994.
Funeral services will be held on Feb. 5 at 2:00 p.m. at the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home, Inc., 312 E. Locust Street, Clearfield, PA with Pastor Doug Brink officiating. Interment will be in the Thompson Cemetery.
Friends will be received on Feb. 4 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. and on Saturday, from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of services.
