MIFFLINTOWN – Led by three players in double figures, the Clearfield Area High School cagers ended the Mountain League crossover portion of their schedule with a dominating first half for a 58-33 win over Juniata Tuesday night.

Robbie Myers scored 15 points, Jack Mellgard 13 and Andrew Redden 12 as the Bisons made it back-to-back wins for the second time this season in their first-ever meeting with the Indians.

Mellgard got the offense rolling with seven points in the first quarter and added four in the second period while Clearfield (4-10) was putting the clamps on the hosts on the other end of the floor to open a 29-8 halftime bulge.

Myers and Redden, who hit two of the Bisons’ six three-pointers, were the big guns in the second half with nine points apiece.

Mellgard, Curtis Frye, Beau Swales and Christian Lezzer hit from behind the arc, too.

ML-Nittany Division cellar-dweller Juniata (1-14) fired a barrage of threes and also found the range on six attempts. Jared Fulkroad made three to top the Indians with 11 points, and Brian Bashore sunk two.

Clearfield begins its second trip around the ML-Allegheny Division by hosting front-running Huntingdon (14-1, 5-0) Thursday. They met in the season opener, with the Bearcats prevailing 73-38 on their home court.

A free throw in the final seconds gave the Juniata jayvees a 32-31 squeaker in the prelim. Ryan Hogue had nine points for Clearfield.
