CLEARFIELD – What do you get when you cross an award winning local winery with an All-America City awarded town? The new wine of the All-America City: Clearfield. Starr Hill Winery has partnered with the Clearfield Revitalization Corporation, to create a “taste” of the All-America City. This partnership not only brings awareness to the revitalization efforts of the community, but also acts as a fundraiser in which every bottle of Clearfield wine sold, $1 will be donated to the Clearfield Revitalization Corporation.
Owner of Starr Hill Winery, Kenn Starr describes what makes the Clearfield wine so unique: “It was an excellent opportunity for us to partner with the Clearfield Revitalization Corporation. This is a great idea that the Main Street Manager Kellie Truman had, and we will continue the limited collectable series throughout the campaign with a portion of the sales going back to the CRC.” Starr shares that the wine itself is a semi/sweet style. “85% of wine drinkers prefer semi/sweet,” which means that Clearfield wine will appeal to more people versus a dryer wine.
The CRC tapped into the art and talent of local artist Ian Aughinbaugh to create and design the label for the Clearfield 2011 Edition. Aughinbaugh will create a new limited edition label each year forming a collector’s series.  Aughinbaugh comments, “by changing the label each year, there will a chance to ‘showcase’ the different aspects and parts of Clearfield. The new labels will not only be a fun project, but will also share some different perspectives of what Clearfield has to offer.”
Aughinbaugh is also the creator of the CRC logo and shares his experience working with the limited edition label of the All-America City Wine. “The new Clearfield wine logo stands for an attempt at rebuilding Clearfield to where it once was and where it should be today. Clearfield was once a thriving town, growing constantly, and there’s no reason that it can’t be that way in today’s age and time.” Aughinbaugh is no stranger to partnering for the betterment of his community. “My grandfather, Dr. Thomas Aughinbaugh, taught me to give back to your community as much as you can, and this wine label project is my gift. I am truly honored to be a part of this revitalization and to work with Starr Hill and the CRC.”
Dr. Keely Casteel, President of the CRC, worked closely with Truman on this project. “Kellie did a fantastic job of making the most of this opportunity for the CRC.  This project represents exactly what the CRC stands for, which is bringing attention to the best of what our area has to offer. The CRC 2011 All-America City Wine could be a welcomed conversation favor for any local business to give to clients and employees this year.  As well, the Clearfield wine could be a perfect feature beverage at large picnics, weddings and dinner parties.”
The Wine of the All-America City: Clearfield will debut for sale Feb. 5 at the Groundhog Wine Festival held at the Expo 1 Hall at the Clearfield Fair grounds. At that time, Artist Ian Aughinbaugh will be available to autograph the limited edition All-America City Wine: Clearfield bottles at the Starr Hill and CRC Booth. In addition to the festival, Clearfield wine will be sold at Starr Hill locations including St. Mary’s, Clearfield Mall, Philipsburg, and at the Winery in Curwensville.
