NEW BETHLEHEM – A young but talented Redbank Valley team picked up bonus points in every one of its 12 wins to pin a 59-12 loss on Curwensville in Thursday night’s dual meet between District 9 Class AA rivals.

A fall by Kyle Kyler (7-5) at 189 pounds and a forfeit win by Jake Keller (13-0) at 135 accounted for the only Golden Tide points.

Kyler pinned Mark Strothers 38 seconds into the second period.
Â
The host Bulldogs (3-0) recorded four falls, one technical fall and six major decisions in addition to receiving one forfeit.

Evan Shirey at 140 and Corey Cyphert at 171 are the only seniors for the Bulldogs, who placed fourth in the 17-team Hickory Tournament and won the 41st annual Redbank Valley Christmas Tournament in December without three of their regulars.

Curwensville (4-5) will be busy next week, hosting Moshannon Valley Tuesday, visiting Ridgway Thursday and then participating in the Clearfield Duals Saturday.
