Daniel A. Straw, 50 of West Decatur, passed away on Jan. 12, 2011 at Mt. Nittany Medical Center.
Born on Sept. 9, 1960, he was the son of James and Elizabeth (Dickson) Straw, who survive him.
He was a member of the First Church of Christ in Philipsburg, and held membership in the Moshannon Lodge #391 F&AM in Philipsburg, the BPO Elks #1173 in Philipsburg and a charter member of the West Decatur Sportsmans.
He was employed as a lineman for Penelec and was a member of of the IBEW Local 459 Johnstown and formerly a member of local 126.
He was a graduate of the Philipsburg-Osceola Area High School and apprenticed for North Eastern Joint Apprenticeship.
On May 10, 1986 at the First Church of Christ in Philipsburg, he wed the former Carla J. Kephart, who survives at home.
He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.
He is survived by his parents; wife; sons Daniel Trey Straw of West Decatur, Trevor Allen Straw of West Decatur and Travis K. Straw of West Decatur; brothers Larry J. Straw and his wife Penny of RD Philipsburg and Robert D. Straw of West Decatur; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Jan. 16 at 2 p.m. at the First Church of Christ, Tyrone Pike, Philipsburg, with the Rev. Timothy D. Richmond officiating. Burial will be at the Stoneville Cemetery in West Decatur. Visitaion will be held on Jan. 15 from 3-9 p.m. at the funeral home. A masonic memorial service will be held on Saturday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
