Bernard D. Slother, 77 Munson, passed away on Jan. 12, 2011 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Pittsburgh.
Born Jan. 18, 1933, he was the son of the late John and Julia (Tekely) Slother.
He was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehova’s Witnesses of Philipsburg and an Army Veteran of the Korean War. He worked as a veterinary assistant with Herring Veterinary Service in Clearfield until retirement. He was also self-employed as a carpenter. He was a 1950 graduate of the Philipsburg High School.
On March 19, 1955 in Winchester, VA, he wed the former Betty J. Gonder, who survives at home.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by daughter Cynthia A. Herring and her husband Dr. Ronald Herring of Clearfield; son David L. Slother; brothers Thomas Slother of South America, Michael Slother and his wife Shirley of Philipsburg and Theodore “Ted” Slother of Pleasantville; grandchildren Julia Korb and her husband Kyle of Clearfield, Daniel Herring of Cheyene, WY and four additional grandchildren as well as one great-grandchild.
There will be no public visitation or funeral service. Burial will be at the Philipsburg Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home, Philipsburg.
