DA Announces Drug Bust in DuBois

DUBOIS – Clearfield County District Attorney, William A. Shaw, Jr., announced that a drug operation conducted by the DuBois City Police Department has resulted in the arrest of DuBois resident.

Shaw identified the defendant as Kyle K. Read, age 22, of West DuBois Ave, DuBois.
Shaw stated that Officer Steve A. Maholtz of the DuBois City Police Department filed two criminal complaints charging Read with: 1) ossession with the intent to manufacture or deliver a controlled substance, F, 4 counts; 2) criminal use of a communication facility, F3; 3) possession of a controlled substance, M, four counts; and 4) possession of drug paraphernalia, M.

The criminal complaints allege that on December 9, 2010, an undercover police officer purchased $90.00 worth of cocaine from Read inside a vehicle in the area of West DuBois Avenue, DuBois City. The criminal complaints also allege that on Dec. 15, 2010, an undercover police officer purchased $200.00 worth of cocaine from Read in the parking lot of an establishment located on West DuBois Avenue, DuBois City. The criminal complaints further state that on Dec. 16, 2010, an undercover police officer purchased $50.00 worth of cocaine and $30.00 worth of marijuana from Read

The DuBois City Police Department then obtained a search warrant for Read’s residence at West DuBois Avenue. On Jan. 7, 2011, DuBois City Police executed the search warrant and seized marijuana, marijuana plants, drug paraphernalia, $390.00 in U.S. currency, and an unregistered semi automatic pistol.

Read was arraigned on the charges, and his preliminary hearings are scheduled for Jan. 14, 2011.

Shaw said that the charges reflect the ongoing nature of drug investigation in Clearfield County.

Shaw stated, “I am pleased with the efforts by the DuBois City Police Department to identify and investigate drug related cases in the DuBois community”.
