Helen O. Gill, age 86, of Philipsburg passed away on Saturday, January 8, 2010 at the Tyrone Hospital.
Born December 12, 1924 she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Lorraine Owens.
She was a graduate of the Barnesboro High School, class of 1942 and Grove City College class of 1946. She taught at Central Cambria in Ebensburg and at Barnesboro, and was a substitute in the business department at the Philipsburg-Osceola, Moshannon Valley and West Branch schools.
On June 26, 1948 she wed Joseph Gill who preceded her in death in 2002.
Mrs. Gill was a past matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, mother advisor of Rainbow for Girls, a member of the Auxiliary of Presbyterian Homes, and a volunteer to sewing for the Presbyterian Home Bazaar for 27 years.
She is survived by five children, John R. Gill of Houtzdale, Elesa K. Butler and her husband Craig of Etters, Thomas Gill and his wife Annette of Riverside, CA, Kimbery Gill of Tamarac, FL, James O. Gill and his wife Linda of Palm City, FL; a brother, William R. Owens and his wife Marian of Marlyland; a sister, Margaret Kelly of Pittsburgh and five grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at the David K. Dahlgren Funeral Home, 228 N. Centre Street, Philipsburg on Thursday, January 13, 2011 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Tracie Bullis officiating. Burial will be in the Philipsburg Cemetery.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6-8 p.m.
