Obituary Notice: Lillian H. Shaffer

Lillian H. Shaffer, age 90, of Treasure Lake in DuBois, PA died Sunday, Dec. 26, 2010 at her residence.

She was born on June 6, 1920 in DuBois, PA.  She was the daughter of the late James E. & Alfretta (Luther) Burke.

On Jan. 15, 1938, she married Hubert T. Shaffer.  He preceded her in death on January 26, 2007. 

She was a homemaker.  She enjoyed reading Amish books and her beloved Bible.  She loved to spend time with her grandchildren and enjoyed antiques. 

She was a member of the Home Camp United Methodist Church where she was a past Sunday school teacher.

She is survived by two sons, John Shaffer and his wife, Marie of Rockton, PA and Henry Shaffer and his wife, Linda of DuBois, PA and two daughters, Mrs. Richard (Nancy) Males of DuBois, PA and Mrs. Joseph (Sally) Hamlin of DuBois, PA, 14 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, and 8 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son, Thomas Shaffer, three brothers, Luther, George and William Burke and five sisters, Nellie Ottens, Vivian Clouser, Florence Erickson, Lois Brumbaugh, and Eleanor Burke. 

She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. 

There will be no public visitation. 

A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family at the Home Camp United Methodist Church with Pastor Rick Howe officiating. 

Burial will be in Luthersburg Union Cemetery.
