Louis C. Valentine, Age 84 of Treasure Lake, DuBois, PA died Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at the DuBois Nursing Home.
Born on December 25, 1925 in Sykesville, PA, he was the son of the late Carmen & Mary (Fratto) Valentine.
On July 22, 1950, he married Julia (Creola) Valentine. She survives.
He was a corporal in the United States Army, having served in World War II.
He was awarded the Victory medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the American Theatre Medal, and the European African Middle Eastern Medal.
He worked in management at Rockwell International Manufacturing in DuBois. He retired after 45 years of service. He, along with his brother, Pat Valentine, and his sister, Jennie Petraitis, was the co owner of Valentine’s Flaming Hearth Restaurant in DuBois.
He was a graduate of the Sykesville High School where he participated in many sports. He was a member of the James J. Patterson Post 813 Veterans of Foreign Wars and St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church. He especially enjoyed golfing and was a member the Treasure Lake Golf Association.
He is survived by 2 sons (Gary L. Valentine and his wife Barbara of Potomac, MD, and Kevin M. Valentine and his wife Cindy of Medina, OH) 1 sister (Ann Valentine of American Fork, UT) 5 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers (Sam, Joe, & Pat Valentine) 5 sisters (Frances Valentine, Jennie Petraitis, Sally Stover, Gemma Castiglione, & Viola Kokoska) and two grandsons (Nicholas Valentine and David Oren Ward).
Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 26, 1020 from 6-8 p.m. from the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home.
The DuBois Area Honor Guard will conduct a ritual service on Monday, December 27, 2010 at 2:15 p.m. from the funeral home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, December 27, 2010 at 3 p.m. from St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church with Msgr. Richard Siefer as celebrant.
Full military honors will be accorded from the church by ht e members of the DuBois Area Honor Guard.
Burial will be in St. Catherine Cemetery.
