AUSTIN –Two winter programs – “Cross Country Ski Basics” and “Snowshoe Basics” have been scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 8 and Sunday, Jan. 9, respectively, at the Sinnemahoning State Park.
Visitors are invited to join the park staff and local ski enthusiasts for a lesson on cross country skiing. Instructors will be on-hand on Saturday. Jan. 8, but there will only be a limited number of skis and boots available. When participants pre-register, they are to provide their shoe size to the staff.
On Sunday, Jan. 9, the park staff teamed with the Rock, River and Trail Outfitters to present the “Snowshoe Basics” program. Instructors will be on-hand and a variety of snowshoe types and sizes will be available for participants to try out.
Both programs are dependent upon weather, as sufficient snow is necessary. Anyone who plans to participate is required to pre-register by Wednesday, Jan. 5.
At the event, participants should meet at the Park Maintenance Building on Swank Road, just south of the dam overlook area.
Please call the park at 814-647-8401 for more information, directions or to pre-register for either of the two events.
