CURWENSVILLE – Curwensville Borough appears to be on the road to economic recovery.
At Monday’s meeting of Curwensville Borough Council, board president Mark Curulla said the proposed 2011 budget leaves the borough a little over $59,000 in the black. The budget shows expenditures of $684,393 and income of $743.400.
Financial trouble hit the borough in 2008 when council had began furloughing employees.
Curulla said that when he came onboad with council in 2008, the borough was $400,000 in debt. Signs that the finances were turning around came in June 2010 when council was presented with the borough’s audit.
The proposed budget was approved by council and will be on display until Dec. 28, when a special meeting of council will be held to accept the 2011 budget.
