CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield County SPCA’s holiday wish tree is decorated and now waits for items to care for homeless animals to be placed underneath its branches.
For the third year, Waggin’ Trains, a pet supply store located at 1226 South Second St. in Clearfield, will coordinate the effort. The collection is among its most popular as well as its most needed fundraiser.
“The wish tree is a way for animal lovers to help us with the basic supplies (that) we use in abundance every day. Everyone can find something on our wish list to meet his or her budget,” said SPCA Executive Director Pam Smith.
This year’s list includes paper towels, paper plates, copy paper, postage stamps, bleach, 33-gallon and larger trash bags, clay cat litter, rock salt, Kong toys, and clean towels and blankets in good condition.
“Of course, donations are always needed and appreciated,” Smith noted.
The SPCA relies solely on donations for its operation. It neither has a parent organization nor receives public funds with the exception of donations from a few Clearfield County municipalities.
The tree will remain up until January 3, when the gifts will be taken to the SPCA shelter. Items may be dropped off during business hours from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturdays.
