Ai C. Gormont, 86, of Frenchville died on Thursday, November 25, 2010 at UPMC Passavant Hospital, Pittsburgh.
He was born on November 23, 1924 in Frenchville, a son of the late Emery and Ivy L. (Renoe) Gormont.
Mr. Gormont retired from PermaGrain Products in 1987 after eighteen years of service. Prior to that, he was employed in the coal mines for twenty years.
He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Frenchville. Mr. Gormont was also a member of the Leigey Renaud Post #8386 Veterans of Foreign Wars of Frenchville, the Mosquito Creek Sportsman’s Club, the Clearfield Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #812 and the Quehanna Lions Club.
A veteran of the US Army, he served during World War II.
He is survived by five children, Walter Gormont and wife Betty of Clearfield, Bernadette McDowell and her husband Dallas of DuBois, Jerry Gormont and his wife Carol of Woodland, Dennis Gormon and his wife Kathy of Frenchville, Roger Gormont and his wife Jody of Clearfield; nine grandchildren, Gregory Gormont, Andrea Hertlein, Angela Larson, Jennifer Kephart, David McDowell, Candy Hess, Jason Gormont, Chris Gormont and Stephanie Gormont and nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen E. (Folmar) Gormont on July 20, 2000 and whom he married November 30, 1946 in Drifting, three brothers Lawrence, Lee and Russell Gormont and a sister Irene Rougeux.
Mass of Christian Burial will be said at the St. Mary Catholic Church, Frenchville on Tuesday at 11:00 AM with Rev. David A. Perry Jr. as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Saint Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Frenchville.
Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the members of the Leigey Renaud Post #8386 VFW Honor Guard, Frenchville.
Friends will be received at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM and on Tuesday from 9-10:00 AM.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to charity of one’s choice.
