BROCKWAY — After a slow start, and a loss in the first set, the Curwensville Lady Tide blew out the Lady Rovers of Brockway three games to one by the scores of 23-25, 25-8, 25-6, and 25-11.
The win in their final regular season match closes out the Lady Tide’s record at 13-5.
Head coach Sandy Bailor commented on the Lady Tide’s slow start to the match, ” I think we left our game on the bus for the first set. We came out very slow, not executing at all, and I think it was a wake up call for the girls that they better get focused and play the game or they were going home with a loss.
“The next three sets they ran on all cylinders and got the job done. We had a great serving game again this evening which I feel is going to be very essential for our playoff run. Audrey Thomas and Madison Peterman combined for 41 service points for the evening and Taylor (Thornhill) and Rachel (Michaels) were again strong at the net with a combined 34 kills. It was a good win to end our regular season…”

With their 13-5 record the Lady Tide earned the #9 seed in the District 9 A playoffs. They will take the long trip to Otto-Eldred, the #8 seed, to face the Lady Terrors on Tuesday November 2. The winner will then have to go to St. Mary’s on Thursday November 4 to face the #1 seed Elk County Catholic Lady Crusaders.

The Lady Tide underclassmen swept the Lady Rovers in two tight matches 26-24 and 25-22 to close out their season at 11-7.
