CURWENSVILLE — The Curwensville Lady Tide volleyball team closed out the home portion of their regular season with a 3-0 sweep of the Lady Bisons of Clearfield by the scores of 25-10, 25-8, and 25-15.
The Senior Night win upped the Lady Tide to a record of 11-5 on the season, while the Lady Bisons dropped to 2-17.
Curwensville head coach Sandy Bailor summed up the night this way, “It was a nice win for us being Senior Night and our last regular season home match. We had a packed house; it was nice to see the fans come out to see the match. It was a total team effort – we were able to play everyone and it was a good night for our three seniors – Rachel Michaels, Audrey Thomas and Taylor Thornhill. Â
“We played hard and we had a great night at the service line, which will be essential for the upcoming playoffs. Rachel and Taylor had another great night at the net and Audrey and Madison (Peterman) mixed it up real well. The changes in our defense helped us in passing the ball so the passers Hannah (Bressler), Ricki (Wells), Savannah (Strickland) and Abby (Johnson) did a great job. Katrina Seaburn had a great night at the service line – she had 21 service points along with 8 aces.”
Lady Tide Stats:
Audrey Thomas – 19 assists and 7 service points; Madison Peterman – 7 assists and 5 service points; Taylor Thornhill – 14 kills, 2 blocks, and 9 service points with 2 aces; Rachel Michaels – 9 kills and 5 service points; Ricki Wells – 11 digs; Hannah Bressler – 20 digs; Abby Johnson – 7 digs; Katrina Seaburn – 21 service points with 8 aces.
The Lady Tide also swept the junior varsity match 25-15 and 25-15 to raise their record to 9-6.
With only two matches remaining in the regular season Bailor added that, ” We need to finish the season up strong so it can carry us on into the playoffs.”
The Lady Tide will be back in action Tuesday night when they travel to Moshannon Valley.
