PHILIPSBURG – A Milesburg man has been arrested for allegedly shooting his girlfriend in 2009.
According to the state police in Philipsburg, Troy Ray Tierney, 25, was arrested on Monday and faces charges of manslaughter, recklessly endangering another person and game law violations of shooting at or causing injury to human beings, unlawful taking or possession of game and unlawful use of lights while hunting.
Law enforcement began investigating the shooting death of Rachel Lynn Perryman last year. According to police, Perryman and Tierney were hunting for deer after dark on Oct. 24, 2009 a short distance from state Route 504. Police said that Tierney told them that Perryman was going back to a car which was parked along Governor’s Road. Tierney reportedly told police that he saw a moving object project a reflection to his light, assumed it was a deer, and fired a shot.
Tierney was arraigned and his bail was set at $15,000 straight. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Oct. 27.
