Police reported a hit-and-run accident that occurred sometime between 4:50 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in the parking lot near the auditorium at the Philipsburg-Osceola High School. A 2002 red Dodge Ram 1500 truck was parked at the school. Another vehicle backed out of its parking space and struck the truck. The vehicle then left the scene. The investigation is ongoing at this time.
Police reported an incident of theft by deception that occurred sometime between 5:39 p.m. and 6:33 p.m. Oct. 8 on North Front Street in Philipsburg Borough, Centre County. A person(s) allegedly contacted the Snappy’s Convenience Store via phone from a blocked number. They then allegedly purchased $425 worth of phone cards without having permission from a 44-year-old Columbus, OH woman.
Police reported an incident of theft on Tuesday on McAteer Street in Woodward Township, Clearfield County. A known suspect allegedly stole several items from a 20-year-old Houtzdale woman while she was staying as a guest at the residence. The incident is still under investigation at this time.
Police reported an incident of theft that occurred sometime between 9:30 p.m. Oct. 10 and 7 a.m. Oct. 11 on Oak Street in Philipsburg Borough, Centre County. Police are currently investigating a fire that occurred at 2 p.m. Wednesday on Plank Road in Port Matilda Borough, Centre County. The fire reportedly started in the stairwell inside an abandoned home. Emergency personnel were able to contain the fire to its point of origin. The home sustained damage only to the stairwell. Police reported a single-vehicle accident that occurred at 2:52 p.m. Thursday on United States Route 322 westbound in Rush Township, Centre County. William T. Dunsmore, 80, of Philipsburg was traveling westbound on USR 322, when he lost control of his 2007 Ford Focus Sedan. His vehicle traveled off the roadway onto the south berm, where it then reentered the roadway. His vehicle proceeded to travel across the roadway onto the north berm and struck an embankment with its right, front end. The Dunsmore vehicle overturned several times and came to a rest on its roof. He was transported to the Mount Nittany Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries. He was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident.
