Carrol Burge, 91 of Philipsburg, passed away on on Oct. 11, 2010 at the Windy Hill Village in Philipsburg.
Born Nov. 15, 1918, he was the son of the late William and May (McGonigal) Burge.
He attended the Gearhartville Free United Methodist Church, was a member of the Hemlock Rod and Gun Club of Philipsburg and a member of the United Mine Workers of America District 2 Local1520 for 60 years. He worked as a coal miner for various local coal companies, retiring from Rushton Coal Company in 1979.
On April 20, 1940, he married the former Aliene M. Harris in Osceola Mills. She preceded him in death on Oct. 3, 2008.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son Larry Burge, seven sisters and one brother.
He is survived by daughter Janet M. Dixon and her husband Edward M. of Gearhartville; son Eugene Burge and his wife Linda M. of Gearhartville; daughter-in-law Fay Burge of Gearhartville; grandchildren Lisa Adams, Carol Anh Hahn, Larry D. Burge, Kelly Stevens, Tammy Stanton, Sherrie Beals, Gaynel Lefort, Michele Cerny and Douglas and Brian Burge; 18 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Oct. 15 at a 11 a.m. at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home, 719 E. Spruce St., Philipsburg, with the Rev. Noel Myers officiating. Burial will be at the Philipsburg Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Oct. 14 from 6-9 p.m. and Oct. 15 from 10-11 a.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
