University Park, Pa. — Penn State’s Big Ten contest at Minnesota on Oct. 23, has been set for an 11 a.m. CT/noon ET kick in Minneapolis. ESPNU will nationally televise the contest for the Governor’s Victory Bell.
The contest is the Nittany Lions’ eighth announced start time for this season and sixth on the ESPN family of networks. ESPNU is available in 74 million homes. On Comcast Cable in the Centre Region, ESPNU airs on channels 272 and 853 (HD).
Penn State has made two appearances on ESPN, ESPN2 and the Big Ten Network thus far this season. The Nittany Lions’ Oct. 30 home game with Michigan will kick at 8 p.m. and air on ABC, ESPN or ESPN2.
Penn State and Minnesota will be meeting for the 12th time, with the Nittany Lions winning the last three games to take a 7-4 series advantage. The Lions posted a 20-0 win over the Golden Gophers last year in Beaver Stadium. Penn State will be making playing in Minnesota’s TCF Bank Stadium for the first time.
The Nittany Lions and Golden Gophers are in different Big Ten divisions starting next year and are not scheduled to meet in 2011 and 2012.
Penn State has appeared on TV in 196 of its last 198 games. Future Penn State contests may be selected by the networks under the six and 12-day provisions of their contracts with the Big Ten Conference.
The Nittany Lions are idle this Saturday, while Minnesota will visit Purdue for a noon kick on ESPN2.
