CLEARFIELD – On Wednesday two people found to be in possession of cocaine after a stop on Interstate 80 had their cases continued for two weeks.
Ralph St. Pierre of Bronx, NY and Danielle Shoup of Taylor PA, face charges of: criminal attempt to manufacture or deliver or possess with intent to manufacture or deliver; criminal conspirac to manufacture or deliver with intent to manufacture or deliver a controlled substance; manufacture or deliver or possess with the intent to manufacture of deliver a controlled substance; intentional possession of a controlled substance by a person not registered; possession of a small amount of marijuana only for personal use and use or possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to court records on Sept. 30 at 9:39 a.m., a traffic stop was conducted after Shoup and St. Pierre passed the investigating trooper on I-80. The trooper reported that when he was passed, the vehicle was doing in excess of 70 miles-per-hour. He noted that at one point he clocked the vehicle going at over 80 mph. He then stopped the vehicle at the 120 westbound exit.
He reported that Shoup was driving the vehicle, and St. Pierre was the passenger. He noted that Shoup appeared nervous and that St. Pierre was holding a prayer book and rapidly eating potato chips. He also observed a can of Febreeze air freshener.
After completing the citation and warning, he had Shoup exit the vehicle. He gave her back her license and vehicle information and informed her that she was free to leave. He then asked Shoup if she would speak with him, and she agreed.
When asked about her trip, the trooper noted that she became nervous. She reportedly told him that her passenger picked her up in Scranton, and that they were heading to Pittsburgh. Based on their behavior and other factors, the trooper asked if he could search the vehicle. Shoup reportedly agreed.
A search yielded suspected cocaine in a Pringles can, in a hidden compartment. Marijuana was found in the Pringles can being held by St. Pierre. More suspected cocaine was found in a water bottle. The suspected cocaine was field tested and came up positive for cocaine.
Both St. Pierre and Shoup are currently being held in Clearfield County Jail.
