Joan L. Steffen, 80, of DuBois died Saturday at Christ the King Manor.
Born on March 29, 1930 in Cleveland, OH, she was the daughter of the late Henry A. and Eleanor S. (Swanson) Steffen. She was a member of the Telecom Pioneers of America and the Christ Lutheran Church.Â
Ms. Steffen was a 1948 graduate of the DuBois Area High School. She retired from Bell Telephone after 30 years of service as an operator.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her long-time companion, Fred Dahrouge.
She is survived by two stepsisters, Sara Williamson of Spring Hill, FL, and Chris Valach of Hiram, OH; two nephews, Wayne Steffen of Binghamton, NY Â and Keith Steffen of Cleveland, OH; one brother, Jim Steffen and his wife, Sally of Roanoke, VA; and a special cousin, Beverly Herman of Goleta, CA.
Friends will be received from 10 – 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home.
A memorial service will follow at the close of visitation Tuesday, with the Rev. Pastor Katherine Douglass officiating. Burial will be in Morningside Cemetery.
