Daniel Lee Royer, Sr. 62, of Woodland, PA, died on Sept. 21, 2010 at the Clearfield Hospital.
He was born on April 23, 1948 in Clearfield, PA and was the son of Alphonse F. and Ida L. (Antes) Royer.
He was a 1966 graduate of Clearfield Area High School.
Mr. Royer was the owner and operator of Royer Concessions for 38 years. He and his late wife, had owned and operated the former Dan and Carol’s Diner and the former Danny’s Family Restaurant for many years.
He was a member of the Free and Accepted Masons Blue Lodge #265 in Bloomsburg, PA, a thirty second degree member of the Caldwell Consistory and a member of the Pennsylvania Showman’s Association.
Mr. Royer is survived by three children: Denice M. Hewlett and her husband Thomas of North Wales, PA, Tammy L. Royer of Woodland, and Daniel L. Royer, Jr. and his wife Tiffany of Morrisdale; six grandchildren: Cassandra M. Hewlett, Dariann C. Pastelok, Brianna A. Hewlett, Victoria K. Royer, Alaina L. Royer and Nicholas T. Hewlett, and Gavin D. Royer; brothers and sisters: Thomas Royer and his wife Maddie of Clearfield, Patricia Albert and her husband Gerald of Clearfield, Nancy Bowman of Egypt, Betty Gillingham and her husband Donald of Clearfield, Ernest Royer and his wife Joan of Allport, Elizabeth Moyer and her husband Jack of Alabama, and Alphonse Royer, Jr. of Michigan. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife Caroline Lea (English) Royer, whom he married on Nov. 4, 1967 at the West Side United Methodist Church of Clearfield and who passed away on Aug. 13, 2006, a granddaughter, Ashley Ann Rhine and a grandson, Dalton Daniel Royer.
Funeral services will be on Friday, September 24, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home, Inc. of Clearfield with Rev. Kenneth Pry officiating. Interment will follow in the Reidy Cemetery, Wallaceton.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Sept. 23 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-9:00 p.m. and on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of the services.
