Did you know that there are people in our community who cannot get to the cancer treatments they need to possibly save their lives? Â Did you know that there is something that you can do about this problem? Â The American Cancer Society needs your support for its Road to Recovery program. Â
The Road to Recovery program provides volunteer transportation for cancer patients to and from their cancer treatments. Â The volunteers who drive for this program provide a crucial service to patients whose families and friends cannot drive them for every treatment
Drivers are an important part of a patient’s recovery, providing moral support and a sympathetic ear. Â Volunteers can be retirees, students, homemakers, or someone with some time to spare. Â The main requirements are the desire to help others and to meet people, and, of course, a car in good working condition. Â
We hope that people in our community with a morning or afternoon available every week or month will participate in this lifesaving program. Â A person can volunteer as often as he or she wishes.
A Volunteer Driver training is schedule for Tuesday, Oct. 5 at 1:00 p.m. at the Clearfield Unit American Cancer Society Office. Â For more information and to register please the local office at 814 765 1314 or 800.458.3856 x 3509 for more information about Road to Recovery.
