Kathryn M. Rodger, 88, of Windy Hill Village, Philipsburg, and formerly of Chester Hill, died Friday at the Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College.
Born on Aug. 18, 1922 in Philipsburg, she was the daughter of the late John Thomas and Jane (Brown) Miller. She was a member of the First Church of Christ, Philipsburg, and of the Order of Eastern Star. Prior to her retirement, she worked at the Harbor Inn dining hall.
In April 1941 in Philipsburg, she married Thomas E. Rodger, whom preceded her in death on Dec. 12, 1990. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers, James “Jugs” Miller; John “Max”’ Miller; William “Bill” Miller; and Walter “Roy” Miller; three sisters, Goldie George and her husband, Henry; Betty Alexander and her husband, Alex; and Alice Miller; and a granddaughter, Alice Rodger.
She is survived by two sons, Thomas Lee Rodger and his wife, Nancy (Prestash) Rodger of Hawk Run and Lorain P. “Larry” Rodger and his wife, Jamie (Couch) Rodger of Hudson.
Mrs. Rodger is survived by three grandchildren, Lynn Gilham and her husband, Pat; Thomas J. Rodger and his wife, Collette; and Angela Balestino and her husband, Glenn. Also surviving are six great-grandchildren, Melinda and Jessica Gilham; Ryan, Brandon and Sarah Balestino; and Chaisley Rodger.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Gearhartville Free Methodist Church, 344 Blue Spruce Road, Philipsburg, with Pastor Noel Meyers officiating.
Burial will be in Philipsburg Cemetery. At Mrs. Rodger’s request there will be no public viewing.
