BRADFORD TOWNSHIP – An unidentified woman lost her life in an accident on Interstate 80 Wednesday night.
According to the state police in Clearfield, Thomas J. Bell of Quinlin, TX was traveling east on I-80 in the left lane when, for unknown reasons, he left the roadway. His vehicle traveled several hundred feet on the median before striking several large trees with its front end.
Upon impact, frozen beef products were propolled through the front of the trailer and into the truck’s cab, trapping Bell. He was removed from the vehicle and flown to Altoona Regional for treatment of major injuries. A passenger in the truck was pronounced dead at the scene by Deputy Coroner Michael Polachek. The identity of the passenger will be released once it is learned and her next-of-kin have been notified.
Police were assisted at the scene by BJW, Lawrence and Hyde Fire Companies, Clearfield Emergency Medical Services, State MedEVAC and PennDOT.
