UNION TOWNSHIP – An investigation continues into a single-vehicle accident at 11:02 p.m. Monday on state Route 504 in Union Township, which resulted in a 20-year-old Bellefonte man being flown to the Altoona Regional Health System.
During their investigation, police indicated that they discovered drug paraphernalia in the man’s vehicle. They also said it’s believed that the man was under the influence of a controlled substance at the time of the accident.
According to the accident report, the man lost control of his 2000 GMC Sierra, traveled off of SR 504 near Bainey Road and struck a tree. He reported wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident, police said.
Police were assisted at the scene by the Bellefonte Emergency Medical Services and the Milesburg Fire Company. S & R Towing transported the man’s vehicle, which was severely damaged, from the scene.
