LOCK HAVEN – Members of the public are invited to “Murder Among the Mateys,” a night of mystery, food and fun at Lock Haven University. The Murder Mystery Dinner will take place on Friday, September 24 at 7 p.m. in Rogers Gymnasium.
The evening’s festivities include a dinner served by members of the LHU women’s lacrosse team.
Participants will have roles ranging from pirates and damsels to shipmates, backstabbers and buccaneers, all gathered aboard the Jaded Jewel, captained by Redbeard. While the Jaded Jewel is docked at Port Royal Cove, the stage is set for a night of mystery, role-playing and adventure.
This is the fourth year the women’s lacrosse team is hosting a mystery dinner. According to LHU Women’s Lacrosse Coach Kristen Selvage, “It has been a raging success.” Last year’s theme was “Murder at the Deadwood Saloon,” where characters were assembled for a poker tournament. Selvage said, “Once again, we were amazed at people’s costumes and realistic role-playing. It was hard to remember that we were not in the Wild West. It was really an enjoyable evening.” Selvage added, “As always, it is up to the guests to provide the real drama. We are really looking forward to this year’s Murder Mystery evening!”
The cost for the event is $50 a plate. Guests are encouraged to dress appropriately for an evening aboard the Jaded Jewel, but costumes are not required. If guests would like to attend but do not want to participate, they can request a non-participant role.
To register, guests should contact Kristen Selvage at kselvage@lhup or 570-484-2751.
The deadline for registration is Friday, September 10. Registrants will receive information about their character shortly after the registration deadline.
All proceeds will go toward scholarships for women’s lacrosse players.
