Betty S. Hilton, 89 of Home, PA and formerly of Woodland, PA, passed away Aug. 21, 2010 at the Crystal Waters Personal Care Home in Home, PA.
Born on April 3, 1921 in Woodland, PA, she was the daughter of Groff and Rose (Davis) Stewart.
Mrs. Hilton was a homemaker.
She was a member of the Lake Street United Methodist Church in Woodland, PA, where she served as a Sunday school teacher. Through the years, Mrs. Hilton had also served in various offices in the church.
She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, chapter #379, where she had served as a past Worthy Matron. She had also attended the Woodland Senior Citizens organization.
Mrs. Hilton is survived by two sons: Ashley S. Hilton and his wife Sharon of Massillon, OH and Groff S. Hilton and his wife Rachael of Clymer, PA; four grandchildren, A. Stewart Hilton and his wife Jacci of Massillon, OH, Scott A. Hilton and his wife Cherie of Houston, TX, Karian Hilton of Clymer, PA and Pamela Boughamer of Clymer, PA; one great-granddaughter, Shana Hilton.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Rodney W. Hilton, whom she married on Dec. 21, 1939 and who passed away in 1985. Mrs. Hilton is the last surviving member of her generation, having been preceded in death by a sister, Thelma Haberberger.
Funeral services will be held on Aug. 25 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home, Inc, 312 E. Locust Street, Clearfield, PA, with Pastor Sean Patrick Smith officiating. Interment will be in the Crown Crest Memorial Park in Hyde, PA.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Aug. 24 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-9:00 p.m. and on the day of services from 10:00 AM until the hour of services.
There will be a memorial service offered by the Order of the Eastern Star #379 on Tuesday at the funeral home.
