Rebekah Jane Varner, 90 of Woodland died on Aug. 18, 2010 at Ridgeview Elder Care and Rehabilitation Center, Curwensville.
She was born on Jan. 4, 1920 in Clearfield, a daughter of the late William J. and Margaret J. (Davis) Brown.
Mrs. Varner was employed at McCrory’s, Kurtz Stationary Store, Leitzinger’s and JCPenney department stores, retiring in 1982.
She was a member of the Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church, Woodland and the Woodland Senior Citizens.
She is survived by two daughters:
Marilyn Merritt and husband John Woodland
Gretchen Duck and husband Jerome Boalsburg
Five grandchildren:
Vicki Trinidad and husband Terry
Michael Merritt and wife Amy
Pamela Hoover and husband Michael ‘Chad’
Cari Zelko and Richard Duck
Eight great grandchildren,
A sister and two brothers:
Caroline Bietz West Chester
Frederick Brown Duboistown
Kenneth Brown Montoursville
And numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin E. Varner on April 27, 1997 and whom she married Aug. 19, 1940 in Bethesda, MD, a brother John Brown and a sister Margaret Griffith.
Funeral services will be held at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Saturday at 2 p.m. with Pastor Sean Patrick Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Bradford Cemetery, Woodland.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Saturday from 1-2 p.m.
