SHAWVILLE – Bridge repair work will close the Shawville Truss Bridge beginning Aug. 10. The bridge spans the Susquehanna River on state Route 970 in Shawville, Clearfield County. A detour will be in place during the closure. Drivers will need to use Interstate 80 and SR 879 while the bridge is closed.Â
Work will include concrete and substructure repairs and bridge painting. All work is weather dependent. L.C. Whitford Company, Inc. of Wellsville, N.Y. is the contractor on this job. This $4.1 million contract covers 27 bridges in Clearfield, Elk, McKean and Potter counties. The Shawville Bridge is expected to be closed through September.
Bridge closure and detour signing will be in place. Drivers are reminded to obey posted speed limits, follow detour signs, and always buckle up. PennDOT reminds motorists they can log on to 511pa.com or call 511 from any phone to check traffic conditions before heading out.
