Velma J. Howell 72 of Clearfield passed away at the home of her daughter in Curwensville on July 26, 2010 after a lengthy illness.
Born April 21, 1938 in Clearfield, she was the daughter of Cleaver William and Vera Irene (Borst) Thompson. Mrs. Howell was retired from the former Clearfield Cheese Co. in Curwensville, was a member of the Curwensville First Baptist Church in Curwensville, and was a member of the United Food Handlers Union.
On Jan. 15, 1955 in Clearfield, she wed Eugene F. “Skip” Howell Sr. who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a son Randall Howell, and a sister Mildred Irene “Mitzi” Sheffield and 2 infant grandchildren Lisa and Eric Sheridan.
Surviving are 3 children: Lucinda J. Howell of Curwensville, Eugene F. Howell Jr. and wife Gerri of York, and Stephen W. Howell and his wife Valerie of Dover. Eight grandchildren: Daniel Sheridan and his wife Jennifer of Clearfield, Rebecca Sheridan of Curwensville, Kristi Howell and Ryan Howell both of York, Caitlin Bonetti and her husband Jeff of Harrisburg, Jacob Howell and Taylor Howell both of Dover, and Bobbi Jo Charles and her husband Mike of Clearfield.
Also surviving are 5 great grandchildren, a sister Ella Mae Turner and her husband Harold of Mount Joy, PA, a brother Cleaver W. Thompson Jr. and his wife Cheryl of Glen Richey, as well as several nieces and nephews.
There will be no public visitation, and private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.
