CLEARFIELD – PennDOT District 2 will place a radar controlled speed display sign along state Route 53 in Morris Township, Clearfield County, today. The sign will be located on Route 53 northbound, near the intersection with Lil Troy Drive. The sign is being placed at the request of local residents.
The speed display sign will remain on location for about four weeks and will register the speeds of vehicles traveling along that section of SR 53.
The speed display sign uses radar to determine the speeds of oncoming traffic. Those vehicle speeds are then posted on the lighted section of the sign. Above the speed display is a speed limit sign showing the posted speed limit for that section of SR 53. The Pennsylvania State Police will monitor the section of Route 53 where the speed display sign is located.
PennDOT reminds motorists they can log on to 511pa.com or call 511 from any phone to check traffic conditions before heading out.
