How to Save the Curwensville Area School District Taxpayers Money:
.) Have the classroom doors replaced by the school district maintenance department employee when they are broken rather than replacing all the doors at one time by an outside contractor who is paid prevailing wage.
.) Have the classrooms painted on a rotating basis by the school district maintenance department employees rather than paint all the classrooms by an outside contractor who is paid prevailing wages.
.) Have only one card reader per classroom and a deadbolt to lock the doors from the inside in an emergency.
.) The auditorium was on the original refurbishing plan but was rejected by the state for funding.
.) The state was to pay $10 million and the district $11 million for the refurbishing project. The actual state funding is $7 million and the school district share is now $14 million. Where will the Penn-Grampian students go when the school district runs out of money to pay for the maintenance of the building? The school district must come up with 8.5 percent for the teachers’ pension fund, $7,800 for the teacher raise and a 4 percent raise for the administration.
.) The district is raising our taxes to the maximum allowed by law to pay for the refurbishment project. Where is the money going to come from to pay for all the added expenses?
.) Yes, the taxpayers’ taxes will be raised to pay for them!!
