Gertrude Mitchell, 77 of Clearfield, passed away, on July 7, 2010 at Mountain Laurel Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Clearfield, PA.
Born on March 31, 1933 in Clearfield, she was the daughter of Ralph L. and Pearl (Black) Mullen
Mrs. Mitchell was affiliated with the Protestant faith.
She had been employed by the former Clearfield Furs for twenty five years.
Mrs. Mitchell is survived by her four children: Robert L. Mitchell and his wife Cathy of Shirley, Mass., Margaret A. Yarwasky of Curwensville, Kathy M. Anderson of Hyde and Alexander ”Mike” Mitchell, III and his wife Judy of Clearfield; nine grandchildren: Robert Mitchell, Jr., Robin Melvin, Rebecca Dresel, Rachael Welton, Kimberly Puit, Melissa Eisenhauer, Randy Anderson, Jennifer Skoko and Lisa Mitchell. Also surviving are thirteen great-grandchildren and another to soon be born; one great-great-grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was the last member of her immediate family, having been preceded in death by her parents; her husband Alexander Mitchell, Jr., whom she married on Sept. 23, 1951 in Clearfield, PA and who died on July 31, 2006; an infant sister, Carol Ann Mullen; a brother, Alfred W. Mullen; two sisters, Betty Lou Pry and Janet L. Logan; and a son in-law, Francis J. Yarwasky.
Funeral services will be held on July 12 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home, Inc., 312 E. Locust Street, Clearfield, PA with Pastor Scott Schultz officiating. Interment will be in Bloomington Cemetery.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on July 11 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-9:00 p.m. and on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of services.
