HYDE – Corey Bookhamer turned in another complete game on the mound and matched Andrew Redden’s three runs batted in to lead Clearfield past Brookville 9-5 in Jefferson County Legion League baseball action at the Bison Sports Complex Monday evening.
The John Lewis Shade Post 6 Chiefs stroked 12 hits for their second five-game winning streak of the season, upping their record to 11-7 in the JCL and 16-10.
Every starter except one joined the hit parade.
Redden, who homered, and Bookhamer, who had one of the team’s four doubles, each had two safeties.
After the visitors picked up a run on Dustin Dombrowski’s double and two groundouts in the top of the first inning, manager Sid Lansberry’s Chiefs responded with a three-spot.
Jarrett Fulmer walked, stole second, advanced to third on a passed ball and scored on a single by Bookhamer, who moved into scoring position on a wild pitch and stolen base. Redden and Justin Hoffman followed with back-to-back RBI-doubles.
In the fourth, Derek Danver and Bookhamer drove in runs with doubles ahead of Redden’s two-run homer that made it 7-1.
Kyle Timchak and Tyler Jacobson had hits and scored on an error and a bases-loaded walk, respectively, in the fifth frame.
Bookhamer scattered seven hits in his sixth victory. He struck out 10 and walked three.
Brookville (4-15, 4-14 JCL) tallied an unearned run in the sixth and then got home runs from brothers Tyler and Dustin Dombrowski in the seventh.
The third-place Chiefs will close the regular season at DuBois Wednesday unless a postponed road game with the league leaders has to be played Thursday.
