Clearfield — After a plethora of games the last two weeks, a tournament this weekend, and the JCL playoffs looming, Coach Sid Lansberry’s Post 6 Legion squad (10-7) needed a quick game Friday night.
They got that with a 14-2 Mercy Run shortened game when perennial bottom feeder Reynoldsville came to town.Â
Andrew Redden, normally the starting catcher, picked up the win on the hill by allowing only one earned run through three and two-thirds innings. Cory Bookhamer had to come in and finish after Redden walked three consecutive batters with two outs in the fourth.
Offensively the Chiefs had several players fill up the box score. Swinging the biggest stick was second baseman Derek Danver who was three for four with three runs scored and four RBIs. Bookhamer also slashed three hits with two runs scored and three RBIs. Kyle Timchak, Troy Danver, and Derrick Snyder each chipped in two hits to the 13-hit attack.
The only home run of the game was slugged by Reynoldsville’s Shane Hoover, a Curwensville High School player.
The Chiefs will take to the field at Lawrence Township Park on Saturday at 1:30 when they face Bradford in the Annual Independence Day Invitational. On Sunday they will play twice in the round-robin format.
