CLEARFIELD – Clearfield County District Attorney, William A. Shaw, Jr., announced Clearfield County’s Fugitive of the Week for the week of June 21, 2010
Shaw identified the Fugitive as Corey James Burke, 22, of Mt. Pleasant Road, Penfield.
Shaw stated that Burke is wanted for failure to appear at arraignment court on April 14, 2010.
On Feb. 25, 2010, Officer Peter Largey of the Sandy Township Police Department filed a criminal complaint charging Burke with theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property.
An affidavit of probable cause filed by Largey states that on Nov. 20, 2009, police were dispatched to the DuBois Mall in response to an individual reporting that stolen property was located at a business within the mall.
Upon arrival, officers met with the victim who reported that he left for work in the morning. When returned home he told police that he noticed that a Play Station, games and DVDs were missing from his residence.
The victim then traveled to the Game Stop, a business located in the DuBois Mall, and discovered that the stolen items had been exchanged earlier in the day. Officers then spoke with employees of the Game Stop who advised that Burke had sold the items to the Game Stop and had provided photo identification.
The total value of the merchandise stolen was approximately $919.33.
A preliminary hearing was held on March 26, 2010, at which time the charges were held for court. On April 15, 2010, Burke failed to appear for arraignment court and a warrant was issued for Burke’s arrest.
Burke is described as a white male who stands 6-feet, 1-inch tall and weighs 222 pounds. He also has brown eyes and red hair.
