Mrs. Bertha M. (Lender) Shope, 82, of Irvona, passed away at 2:45 a.m. on June 13, 2010 at Mt. Laurel Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Clearfield.

She was born Jan. 31, 1928 in Irvona, a daughter of the late Frank and Bessie M. (Lord) Lender. Mrs. Shope was a 1946 graduate of the Coalport – Irvona High School and was a member and past treasurer of the Irvona United Methodist Church. She was a 50 year member of the Clearfield Chapter of the Pennsylvania Order of the Eastern Star.

On Jan. 29, 1955, in New York City, she married Glenn E. Shope, Sr who survives of Irvona. Mrs. Shope was a homemaker and is survived by two children, Glenn E. Shope, Jr and his wife Cindy of Kansas City, Kansas and Brenda M. Morroni Kasubick and her husband Dennis of Houtzdale.

Mrs. Shope is survived by her grandson, Cadet Brandon F. Morroni, West Point Military Academy.
She is also survived by a sister, Jean Miles of Altoona and a number of nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Lender; her son-in-law, Anthony Morroni; her father-in-law, Benjamin F. Shope; her mother-in-law, Bertha (Gates) Shope; a brother-in-law, Dean Miles and a sister-in-law, Louise Lender.

Friends will be received on June 16 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. and on June 17 from 9- 11 a.m. at the Kruise Funeral Home, Inc. Ramey.

Funeral Services will be held on June 17 at 11:00 a.m. in the Kruise Funeral Home, Inc., Ramey with Pastor Robert Ford officiating.
