PENN TOWNSHIP – An automobile accident claimed one Curwensville man’s life while another Curwensville man was left with injuries of an unknown severity.
According to the state police in Clearfield, on Thursday around noon, 78-year-old Malcom Johnston was traveling south on state Route 879 in Penn Township. A vehicle operated by 59-year-old Victor C. McCully was traveling north on the same route. Police said Johnston was attempting to turn left onto Melody Lane. As he turned and crossed into the northbound lane, McCully’s vehicle struck Johnston’s. Johnston was pronounced deceased at the scene by Clearfield County Deputy Coroner Kim Shaffer Snyder. Police said McCully suffered injuries of an unknown nature.
Troopers were assisted at the scene by Curwensville Emergency Medical Services, Rescue Hose and Ladder, Grampian Fire Police and PennDOT.
