An incident of simple assault occurred on North Second Street in Philipsburg Borough. James Kobuck, 45 of Philipsburg, and the first alleged victim were engaged in an argument that turned physical. Kobuck reportedly grabbed the 39-year-old Philipsburg woman by the arm and threw her on the couch then bit her on the shoulder and punched her several times on the back of her head. The second alleged victim, a 22-year-old Philipsburg woman, attempted to assist the older woman. Kobuck allegedly kicked that woman, grabbed her and ripped her shirt. Kobuck was charged with simple assault and harassment. He was arraigned and placed in Centre County Jail in lieu of $7,500 bail.
Gary Josefik, 55 of Philipsburg, was traveling on a motorcycle on the Bald Eagle Pike. He was rounding a sharp left-hand curve when he noticed a deer on the road. He swerved to avoid the deer. He went off the road, over a hill and into a field. He let go of the handlebars and rolled off of the bike as it struck a ditch. Josefik was wearing his helmet and suffered minor injuries.
