CLEARFIELD – Following a brief executive session, board members approved personnel increases and then a balanced 2010-11 budget at Wednesday’s meeting of the Clearfield County Recreation and Tourism Authority.
Holly Komonczi, executive director of the CCRTA, indicated their budget called for $401,250 in both revenues and expenditures for the upcoming fiscal year.
Under the present budget, the board also agreed to the following personnel increases that were recommended by the human resources committee.
They set Komonczi’s salary at $35,000 and Heather Barnett’s, travel development specialist, at $26,500. They also set a “starting” salary for the new administrative assistant at $9 hourly as per the media advertisement, said Jane Elling, board member.
In addition, Elling said they agreed to set the salaries for their literature couriers at $9.25 and $7.25, respectively. She indicated they set a higher hourly pay for the driver. She said these staff members are permitted a maximum of 15 hours per week.
Earlier in the meeting, Komonczi announced that former administrative assistant Mary Cusick had submitted her resignation. She said Cusick had accepted a human resources position in Altoona.
Komonczi said she had prepared a media advertisement for the position. However, she said she’s had several individuals already submit applications.
She said Cusick helped her develop and review the advertisement. She said they together determined the necessary qualifications to be required of applicants.
“I want a really interactive process,” Komonczi said.
Micks said they must move ahead and set a definite hire date. She said they would later discuss the possibility of hiring a fourth staff member, which she indicated came up in the executive session earlier.
Komonczi said she would have preferred to be included in the discussion.
Later in the meeting, board member John Sobel said he believed better communication was needed between Komonczi and the human resources committee.
“They’re actually trying to help you,” Sobel said. He suggested they organize a meeting in the future so that they can clarify the situation.
