Lumber City Bridge Slated to Re-Open June 14

CURWENSVILLE – On June 14, PennDOT will re-open the Lumber City Bridge on state Route 729 in Clearfield County. The bridge had been closed since early May for repair and rehabilitation work. 

The bridge spans the West Branch of the Susquehanna River on SR 729 in Lumber City. The detour around the closure will then be lifted.  Crews will continue to perform minor repair work under the bridge, with the bridge remaining open to traffic. 

Work on the bridge has included bearing replacement, expansion dam replacement, and bridge deck repair. PennDOT is re-opening the bridge a few weeks ahead of schedule.

Swank Associated Companies of New Kensington has been the contractor on this job. The project was financed with federal funds from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) and was part of a $2.2 million contract to rehabilitate seven bridges in Clearfield and Potter counties. 

This project is part of PennDOT’s more than $66 million investment of federal economic recovery funds being spent on 17 transportation projects across the nine counties of District 2.
