DUBOIS – After riding on patrol with the DuBois City Police Saturday night, City Manager, John “Herm” Suplizio got a sense of just how difficult it is for emergency responders to identify houses.
Suplizio said that some houses and businesses had no numbers marking them and others were too small to see from the street. Suplizio asked council to consider sending the matter to the planning commission in order to see what ordinances were already in existence and what they could possibly enact in order to enforce uniformity among the residents and businesses.
Council member, Dianne Bernardo, found the ordinance they were looking for in Chapter 27, Part 4, Section 400.1 of the Code of Ordinance of the City of DuBois.
Suplizio said that it would be ideal for all houses and businesses to have six or eight inch numbers to identify their address. He said it may be possible to seek grant money to assist residents and business owners in obtaining the appropriate size markings.
Council voted to send the matter to the planning commission, which meets on June 1 at 7:00 p.m., where it will be further discussed.
