CLEARFIELD – The Animal Welfare Council held its 4th Annual Yard Sale fundraising event at the beginning of May at the Clearfield Driving Park.
“ This years sale topped the last three by far,:” stated board member Danielle Prebe.
The sale kicked off at noon on Thursday and ended successfully on Saturday.
“One of the key components of the sale was the grateful donation from the Wal-Mart Supercenter, Clearfield who let us borrow shopping carts, it was like black Friday, shoppers we taking carts out of the hands of those just emptying them out at the registers” Prebe noted. “It was great to feel the excitement and support of the local community supporting our organization.”
Along with Wal-Mart, Batcho Business Machines donated the use of our third cash register, Girl Scout Troop 56 baked homemade peanut butter dog bones and several troop members and their families volunteered at the sale, board member Nina Davis donated perennials of all styles and Kephart Trucking Co. has donated storage and transport for the last four yard sales. The Council also held their second Rabies clinic of the year on the last day of the sale.
The Animal Welfare Council is grateful for all the generous donations that were given at the registers. All proceeds from the sale were designated to the new Allegheny Spay and Neuter Clinic that the council just opened in December 2009. The clinic has spayed and or neutered over 850 animals, which include cats, dogs, and rabbits. The Allegheny Spay and Neuter clinic is a clinic that provides spay and neuters at a reduced cost and serves the local community.
