CURWENSVILLE – On Saturday athletes from all over took part in an event that wound them through scenic Clearfield County. The Clearfield County Conservation District’s Upper West Branch Triathlon returned, and athletes took part in three events: running (4.4 miles), canoeing/kayaking (5 miles) and biking (15 miles). The race began at PJ Bressler Bait and More and ended at the Curwensville Lake and Recreation Area. The course takes participants along the beautiful, scenic riverway of the Susquehanna River in Clearfield County.
According to Susan Reed, director of the CCCD, this year’s event had the biggest turnout since its inception, with 104 participants. She said that participants came from all over Pennsylvania, plus three from New York, two from Ohio, two from Kansas, and one each from Washington, D.C., North Carolina and Canada. The ladies from Lake Street United Methodist Church prepared lunch. The fastest time was 1:45:05.
