Thomas B. Clapsaddle, 71, of Echo Glen, Grampian RD, passed away May 13, 2010 at his residence after a lengthy illness.
Born Jan. 31, 1939 in Grampian, he was the son of Willard B. and Anna Blanche “Midge” (Rafferty) Clapsaddle. Mr. Clapsaddle was retired as a driller for D. C. Guelich of Clearfield in 2001 and was a member of the Laborer’s Union Local # 910 Johnstown. He was a member of St. Bonaventure’s Roman Catholic Church in Grampian, and was a member of the Punxsutawney Eagles Aerie #1231.
On May 30, 1987 in Punxsutawney he wed the former Janet P. “Polly” (Hatten) Nicholson who survives along with 4 children: Kristi Grant of Mt. Pleasant, Tami Moorhouse and her husband Michael of Ashtabula, OH, Kari Dimmick and her husband Brian of Curwensville, and Michael Nicholson and his wife Gina of Stump Creek.
Also surviving are 9 step children: Roxann Overman and Robert Nicholson and his wife Valerie both of Soldier, Thomas Nicholson and his wife Deb of Stump Creek, Rodney Nicholson and his wife Penny of Virginia, Lisa Haught and her husband Steve of Punxsutawney, Dreama Miller and her fiancée Doug of Cuba, NY, Bridget Sparks and her husband Doug of Rockport, TX, Belinda Sehlke and her husband Tracy of Allens Mills, and Charles Nicholson of Florida.
In addition there are 8 grandchildren, 13 step grandchildren, 9 step great grandchildren and 5 sisters surviving. Victoria Shirey of Miamisburg, OH, Diana Phillips and her husband George of Elmira, NY, Margaret Russell of Tucson, AZ, Isabell Maitre of Curwensville, and Joan Mains and her husband Willard of Grampian.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Louise Harman, a brother Arthur Clapsaddle, and a son-in-law James Grant.
At the request of Mr. Clapsaddle there will be no public visitation and a private funeral service will be held at a later date. Interment will be in the St. Bonaventure’s Roman Catholic Cemetery in Grampian.
