– Police reported the investigation continues into a two-vehicle accident Tuesday morning along state Route 948 in Jones Township, Elk County. George L. Thorwart, 60, of Wilcox was traveling south at approximately 15 miles per hour.
The Thorwart vehicle attempted to maneuver left into a gravel turn-around. His vehicle reportedly was struck on its left side by a vehicle driven by Connie L. Bliss, 50, of Wellington, KY. The Bliss vehicle was traveling at approximately 50 miles per hour at the time of impact.
The Bliss vehicle veered into the northbound lane and off the roadway, where it then struck a utility pole. Her vehicle reportedly sustained disabling damage to its right, front end area. Her vehicle was towed from the scene.
Bliss and her passenger, Raymond L. Bliss suffered minor injuries as a result of the mishap. They were both transported to the Elk Regional Health Center for medical treatment.
Police were assisted at the scene by the Wilcox Fire Department, Ridgway Fire Department, Ridgway Ambulance Medic 3 and Wilcox Ambulance.
– Police are investigating the death of a known 84-year-old Byrnedale man who died at his residence sometime early Tuesday morning. No suspicious circumstances exist, troopers said.
